IT IS OUR DESIRE TO DEDICATE OUR LIVES TO THE RESTORATION AND PROTECTION OF THE LAND.
IT IS ALSO OUR DESIRE TO LOVE AND SERVE ONE ANOTHER WITH OUR RESPONSIBLE AND WISE USE OF THE RESOURCES OF THE LAND.
WE ACCEPT AS PART OF "THE GREAT COMMISSION," THE STEWARDSHIP OF THE LAND.
WE GLADLY SACRIFICE ACTIVITIES IN ORDER TO INSURE ENOUGH RESOURCES FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
Jeff and Cindy Weiss moved to the rolling foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Siskiyou County, California in 1994. At this time the land was in bad shape after years of cattle grazing under "open range" laws. The noxious weed "star thistle" blanketed the hills and the gulches, springs and swales were badly trampled. However, "open range" laws do allow the land owner to "fence 'em out", which is exactly what they did. And very soon the land began to recover. Now there are almost 300 acres that are being preserved for today and future generations. There are over 150 wildflower species on the land, many of which are rare species. Pronghorn antelope roam across the land seasonally. Deer, badgers, coyotes, mountain lions, snakes, raptors, rabbits, and numerous other creatures large and small also call this place their home. "Bluestone Ark", as it has now being called, is a sanctuary for flora and fauna, where there are seasonal springs and good land for gardening. This is a place where Jeff and Cindy live as sustainably as they can, learning all the time what "Sustainable" actually means.
One obvious requirement for "sustainability" is to keep the cattle out. This requires fence maintenance which requires money. So, Jeff and Cindy are offering beautiful photographic prints for sale for $10 each to help cover the costs of keeping the cattle out. If you believe in what they are doing and wish to help them out by purchasing one or more of these beautiful prints, all taken from Bluestone Ark, you may donate through PayPal above, or, send a check made out to Jeff Weiss at 3801 Lodestar Ct. Montague, CA 96064. Email inquiries may be made to firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you!!!
"Then I say the Earth belongs to each generation during its course, fully and in its own right. The 2nd generation receives it clear of debt and encumbrances and the following generations as well. For if the 1st generation could charge the 2nd generation with debt, then the Earth would belong to the dead, and not the living generation. So, no generation should be allowed to contract debt greater than may be paid during the course of its existence"…….Thomas Jefferson 1789 (the first statement on Sustainability)
